Program Description:
Study Race, Ethnicity, and Identities in Colombia.

In this program, you’ll study race and identity through the Afro-Colombian lens. The program’s curriculum, developed in consultation with Howard University, allows you to examine representations of race and ethnicity in Colombia, improve your Spanish, and live with Colombian roommates. You’ll use the Cali's rich backdrop of diversity as your springboard from which to examine the sociopolitical, economic, artistic, and historical representations of race in all of Afro-Colombia.

Academic Program
With out-of-class learning, local roommates, and direct-enroll classes in a Colombian classroom, students will have opportunities to grow their understanding both intellectually and experientially. Students participate in the Pre-semester Intensive Spanish course and a Spanish as a Foreign Language course during the semester. Advanced students can waive the semester course if taking all Spanish-taught courses. The CR/NC option is limited to direct enroll university courses only.

For academic year 2022-2023 and years prior: Students enroll in a minimum of 15 U.S. semester credits to equal 4 Pomona credits. 
From fall 2023 onwards: Students enroll in 15-18 U.S. semester credits to equal 3.75-4.5 Pomona credits. 


Living Arrangements 
Students will stay in self-catered, off-campus apartments with CET peers and local Colombian students. Apartments are located in a residential neighborhood within a 5-minute walk of the CET Center.

CET enrolls approximately 7-12 students, selected from a national pool.
