Scholarships
IFSA scholarships are primarily need-based and factor in any additional cost your study abroad program might have over home school tuition. The awards are $500 for summer programs, $1,500 for semester programs and $2,500 for full year programs. These scholarships may apply to any IFSA program, with the exception of our custom programs.

Academic Program
Students apply to one college or program within UCD. The majority of courses must be within the student’s college or chosen program. 

Eligible STEM students may choose to enroll in the Science Research Module: “Introduction to Scientific Research” (0.625 Pomona credits). In this research module, students become active members of a University research group under the direction of local faculty. This unique research program is an opportunity to actively learn how to develop a hypothesis and experiment, analyze data, and write and present about their findings. This module is open to students with or without prior research experience.

At least one course must be taken at “level three” (upper level). Students should bear in mind that most level three courses have prerequisites and admission to particular courses is contingent on approval by the relevant UCD department, based on the applicant’s background and experience.

All students are required to take at least one course with significant Irish content.

Credits are assigned on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), with each course weighing 5 ECTS or 10 ECTS.

A full course load is 25-30 ECTS (12.5-15 U.S. semester credits; 3.125-3.75 Pomona credits).

Living Arrangements
Students will live in an apartment/flat at University College Dublin and meals will be self-catered.

Pomona College will cover the standard housing fees. IFSA will bill students directly for supplemental housing fees if students are placed in housing that has an additional fee. It is very important that you review IFSA’s and UCD’s housing information carefully and complete the housing form as soon as you receive the instructions. UCD assigns student housing on a first-come, first-served basis. All housing applications must be submitted by the deadline. It is the student’s responsibility to select UCD housing that fits into their budget. Do not list accommodation options outside your budget, as UCD has been known to place students in the most expensive housing option listed, even if it was their last choice.

IFSA enrolls approximately 50 students, selected from a national pool. University enrollment is approximately 35,000 students.
